Towers made it two in a row as they defeated Slagelse Wolfpack 21-20 on the first possession of overtime on Sunday.

Denmark is a far cry from California and Ohio, but William Miller and JR Artozqui will be calling Copenhagen home for the better part of this year. Both have left familiar surroundings to spend the 2010 season with the Towers.

 

11 years of age and a sideline separate head coach William Miller and quarterback JR Artozqui, but other than that they are really not very different. Both love sports, both are single, both are pleasant and laidback guys and both love to talk. However, while JR is making his very first trip overseas, William already has two previous stops on his European football CV.

The Towers needed a late rally to beat the 89ers in Aalborg after trailing since the second quarter. The Towers scored first, but the 89ers made the most of two Towers mistakes to take the lead. Two unanswered touchdowns in the second half gave Copenhagen a 21-15 win, while the 89ers remain winless after four games.

QB JR Artozqui played his first game for the Towers after being sidelined for two games as his work permit did not come through until this past week. Artozqui was inaccurate on some passes, but he did gain good yardage and even two touchdowns on the ground. Artozqui passed for another touchdown, hitting ageless wide receiver Jens Bo Poulsen.

The Towers claimed their first win of the season today. In a battle of winless teams the Towers claimed a come-from-behind 21-15 victory over the Aab 89ers in Aalborg. This game marked the first time starting QB JR Artozqui was able to suit up for the Towers.

The Towers play their first away game of the season this coming Sunday. And if you’re going on a road trip you might as well make it a big one. The team will travel to the opposite end of the country to play the Aalborg 89ers.
